Headstrong Summit 2024

October 14, 2024

Highlights from the HEADSTRONG Summit held at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham!!

Ms. Murray, Ms Barrett and Ms. Ni Eimhin who are members of the National Headstrong Schools Team facilitated an exciting training day for a number of secondary schools who will be completing the evidence-based HEADSTRONG Programme 2024/25.

HEADSTRONG teaches students how to reduce stigma and become mental health champions in their schools. It challenges students to examine the dangers of stereotypes and the harm created by stigma.

Students got the opportunity to;

– hear stories of hope and recovery from speakers with lived experiences while focusing on the following themes; Gambling, Bullying and Eating Disorders

– participate in stigma-busting activities

– listen to brief talks from the following Mental Health Organisations supports; Shine, Childline, Spunout & Bodywhys

– design action plans to use when they returned to school

Headstrong inspires young people to Be Brave, Reach Out and Speak Up about mental health.

A massive congratulations to St. Paul’s Headstrong Ambassadors who received their Cycle Against Suicide Ambassador’s school status for the 3rd year running. Their hard work, commitment and love for the programme is truly admirable.

This award would not have been possible without the continuous support from St Paul’s students, parents, staff and management.

Thank you to all!!!
